Carole Robson
My name is Carole Robson and I was born on the 28th December 1953, which makes me 50 this birthday the year 2003.
I was born in Johannesburg South Africa, I was brought up in a happy middle class home with christian principles.
I married at the age of 19 years, and had 2 beautiful children by the time I was 23. Due to complications in giving birth to my first born a son Robert, I encountered something quite amazing on the operating table, as I was now having an emergency caserean section ( I had had an epidural some 2 hours earlier, I was one of the first in SA to have this new type of anesthetic ) any way while the Drs were busy getting Robert out as his heart had stopped, I spoke out loudly to the Lord and asked him to please save my son and I acknowledged to God that I believed that Jesus is THE SON OF GOD.
Most of the Drs present were Jewish and they witnessed my confession, with this Robert was out and they were able to revive him. I also promised to the Lord I would bring my children up as christians and would try to be a good example to them.
23 months later I had a daughter whose name is Fran ( Francis ) and she was born premature, during the early hours of the morning of my son's 2nd birthday she stopped breathing, and I noticed something strange, while I walked around the room I heard the most beautiful music, and she seemed to be hanging on, but the minute I stopped walking she stopped breathing. ( I did not know at the time but I do believe that I heard music and angels singing from Heaven)
On rushing her to the hospital she was announced clinically dead on arrival, but the Drs fought for her and again I found my self talking to the Lord. I realised then that he( The Lord ) had been carrying me for years. I was even now more determined to find out more about this man called Jesus.
Shortly after Fran started to recover after being on life support for a number of weeks, her father was transfered to Pietermaritzburg, and I remember a pastor and his wife who were clients of mine in JHB use to tell me they were praying for my salvation.
Now living in PMB I was determined to find a christian place of fellowship and carry out my promise to the Lord, " to bring my children up in the ways of the Lord " I found a lovely christian church of which we attended as often as was possible, and I grew in the Lord but sadly at the age of 32 found myself divorced.
In the same year I met Graeme and he had 3 daughters from his previous marriage, and we both realised shortly after we met that our relationship was from the Lord. When we got married we gave our vows to the Lord that we would serve him, and with in 3 years we gave up all our worldly goods and moved back to Johannesburg to study further.
Our little study group in Hilton grew so fast we found the Lord calling us into His Service full time (that little group became what is known today as the Hilton Baptist Church) Genesis :22:ff
As a family we have had many ups and downs but God gave us His promise that He is our provider, and we serve an almighty God, it is us who fail, not Him.
Now God is taking us on another adventure as he gives us instruction in his word James:21v27 to take care of the widows and orphans.
I do believe that life is a journey and we learn on lifes journey, so all my experiances from life have equiped me for the journey ahead,
from Hairdressing, to designing greek hand tufted carpets, to being a pastors wife, and running a coffee shop/mini restaurant on the Amble,
to now finally be where my heart is and that is with taking care of God's children.
"Suffer the little children to come unto me " is what Jesus said.
